God has always given his people explicit instructions on how He wants to be worshipped by His people. His people worship Him. The very nature of the term worship demands careful attention to the instructions of God.
There are denominations and associations of churches that don’t advocate membership. They don’t care if you join and in some cases don’t want you to join. They’re happy to have you come and experience “church for seekers.” People feel little or no attachment to anything, no obligation to anything, no loyalty to anything. They want only the name “Christian”, but without the commitment that goes with such.
For a majority of the religious community the frequency with which the Lord’s Supper is observed is of little concern. There are some who observe annually; some biannually (primarily Christmas and Easter) and still others who would observe the memorial quarterly and some never observe the Lord’s Supper. The Scriptures positively prove that the Lord’s Supper is to be observed with some degree of frequency (Matthew 26:29 ; Mark 14:25 ; Luke 22:18 ; 1 Corinthians 11:26,33 ).
It should be the goal of every Christian to be “just like Jesus.” Though we realize that He was “tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15 ), though we recognize Him as “founder and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2 ), though we know that He is the son of God and that ‘all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment” (Isaiah 64:6 ), we hold the ideal in our hearts to be just like Jesus!
